Meredith Fraser was raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Being an only child, her best friends were books and animals. She loved and collected the “A Little Golden Book” series.
Childhood summers were spent with her Cherokee grandmother who taught Meredith to love and respect nature. Meredith enjoyed watching insects cross the sidewalk. She imagined where they were going and why.
Meredith has an early childhood and elementary degree from the University of Tulsa. Being a first grade teacher, a mother, and a grandmother, reading has always been a high priority. Seeing children immersed in a story warms her heart.
Meredith knew she wanted to continue creating such joy for children by writing picture books. Her writing journey began about ten years ago with a very rough, unpolished picture book manuscript. Not knowing what to do next, it ended in a drawer.
A few years later, Meredith joined Oklahoma Writers’ Federation, Inc. (OWFI) and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). Both these groups offer fellowship, blogs, webinars, and conferences to further one’s writing journey. She takes advantage of it all to improve her craft.
Meredith was awarded Best Picture Book manuscript from an annual OWFI conference. It was at that conference, she met and signed with her amazing agent, Stephanie Hansen. Stephanie owns Metamorphosis Literary Agency in Kansas City, Missouri. Her support and guidance are deeply appreciated.
Meredith and her husband continue to live in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Their grandchildren all live close, enabling her to read with them.
Besides her fellowship with other writers, Meredith draws inspiration from the wonder of nature. Mountains and beaches are her happy places.
